CARMEX® is designed and developed by Famesa Explosivos – Peru, as a safe and efficient initiation system for small scale mining in Africa. The green safety fuse burns at a speed 103-127 second/metre. In comes in the following standard lengths 0.9m, 1.2m, 1.5m, 1.8m and 2,4m. It is fitted with a No 8 detonator suitable for initiating standard cartridge explosives. It is efficiently ignited and timed using MECH RAPIDA® – Ignitor cord.
E*STAR CUBE (Centralized Underground Blasting Equipment) was specially designed and developed for most underground operations. The system enables remote blast initiation in underground operations using an existing Ethernet infrastructure. E*STAR CUBE can be used to initiate a complete E*STAR round or to start nonelectric rounds using an E*STAR detonator. However, it is not approved for use in underground coal mines where the environment may have air-methane or air-coal dust mixtures. Benefits: Increased safety No people are required underground during the firing process Remote firing from surface/office Overall control of all blasting machines USB dongle & fingerprint reader, SSL data encryption
Electric Starters are used to electrically ignite MECHA RAPIDA®– Ignitor Cord.
There are 4 grades/strengths of Emex® cartridge emulsion explosives, it is robust and sensitisation with microspheres ensures excellent shelf-life and reliability of detonation. It is a firm, water resistant cartridge which has a formable consistency for tamping. The high velocity of detonation (VOD) and relatively lower gas volumes (compared to ANFO and watergel) ensure finer fragmentation in tough ground whilst limiting over-break. Emex®- Is available in various diameters from 25mm to 85mm diameter and in four strength grades to suit the application.

The Primadet® series is available in numerous combinations of lengths and delay times for various surface and underground specific blasting operations. Primadet® are factory-assembled units with the following main components: Shock tube to transmit a signal to the delay cap. The shock tube is a 3mm diameter plastic laminated tube coated inside with a thin layer of HMX / Aluminium dust, which reliably transmits a low energy signal at approximately 2000m/s from one point to another. Due to the shock tube construction and inner Surly tube, the low energy signal will propagate through most sharp bends, knots and kinks that may occur in the shock tube. The outer surface of the tube remains intact during and after functioning. The distinguishable tough, orange outer jacket gives excellent abrasive, oil resistant and tensile properties. A precise surface and in-hole detonator containing integral delay elements, anti-static protection and other patented safety devices. This detonator will initiate all compatible cast boosters and cap sensitive explosives.
Function SafeStart™ Instantaneous Electronic Detonators provide safe, precise, reliable, blast initiation in underground mining applications. They facilitate a safe, fast and simple hook-up, for initiation of a charged panel via the main shock tube trunk line. Description The SafeStart™ Instantaneous Electronic Detonator is a modern ultra-safe functional replacement for the conventional Initiation / starter detonator, commonly used in mining. SafeStart™ Instantaneous Electronic Detonators consist of four main components: • Leg wires that transmit the fire signal to the detonator fuse via the PCB module. The standard length is 0.5m. • The PCB module inside the detonator provides resistance against accidental initiation caused by stray currents, electrostatic discharge, electro-magnetic interference and general over voltages. SafeStart™ Instantaneous Electronic Detonators can only be fired by the SafeBlast™ Centralized Blasting System (CBS) or hand held SafeStart™ Initiators (SI-1), designed for the purpose. • A Block used to attach the shock tube trunk line to the SafeStart™ detonator. The SafeStart™ Instantaneous Electronic Detonator connector block will reliably initiate 1 shock tube in both directions if connected properly. • A precise electronic out-hole detonator. This detonator will initiate all standard shock tube products.
Trojan™ cast boosters deliver the driving force required for generating maximum initiating energy and blasting efficiency. They provide reliability, safety and durability for all underground mining, opencast mining and quarry applications by combining high detonation velocity (7500m/s) with high density (1.6g/cm3).Trojan™ cast boosters optimise detonation pressure (225kBar*) and consistently outperform any other type of commercial boosters. 15g Stinger The 15g Stinger is white in colour and is used in small diameter holes (45mm or less) as found in underground mining applications. It is designed to easily slip onto the end of a Primadet or any other standard detonator shell. 150g The 150g booster is yellow in color and is designed for ;use in small blast holes up to 150mm in diameter, typically found in quarry and coal operations. the size and shape of the 150g booster ensures that any Primadet detonator of equivalent used with the product is fully encapsulated. Detonating cordcan also be facilitated as an initiator. y-3 The y-3 booster is green in color and is conical to provide an effective and cost efficient means of initiation in large diameter holes exceeding 150mm in diameter, typically found in opencast mining operations. The y-3 booster is designed to allow the detonation front to fully develop and flatten before reaching the top surface of the booster, thus increasing the impact of the booster at this contact surface. c-400 The c-400 booster is red in color and conical to provide an effective and cost efficient means of initiation in large diameter holes exceeding 150mm in diameter. The conical shape ensures the best booster diameter to blast hole diameter configuration for the size of the booster. c-800 The c-800 booster is orange in color and is designed to be used in the deeper blast holes (25m and more) to maximize the booster diameter hole, diameter ratio and increase the subsequent “bore-hole reassure”. As with the c-400 and the y-3, once in the blast hole, the inverted cone design maximizes the surface contact area between the booster and explosive column above it.
